Ooey, goodness sticky, in the form of a cinnamon bread. In the South, is 5 packages of iced tea. A handful or two or ten Skittles or M & M
Sugar. It is everywhere. In all.
And it is addictive lethal. In fact, it is more addictive than cocaine. A study of 2009 by Dr. Serge H. Ahmed, is sugar as Addictive as cocaine?, published in the food magazine and addiction, proven sugar was eight times as addictive as cocaine. State of results that the sugar creates a craving and reward and as an addictive drug. High sugar, high glycemic index foods are addictive in the same way as cocaine and heroin, according to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Foods with a glycemic index high trigger a part of the brain, known as a Center for pleasure in the brain. When activated, this pleasure Center makes us wanting more of what makes us feel good. And when that pleasure comes from its sugar that we crave. According to Dr. Mark Hyman, "foods that spike blood sugar are biologically addictive."
Why should you care?
That chubby stomach? It is because your body stores the excess calories as belly fat. We are designed to take those stores with us you provide us fuel when food is scarce. The problem for most of us is that we never have to go without eating, so stores are not used.
More likely is that you are one of the 70% of Americans who are overweight or obese. And your sugar addiction is fueling their problems. Why I say problems? Obesity and overweight are leading contributors to chronic diseases such as accident stroke, hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease and even cancer.
If sugar and eat too much are bad for us, do not we have a natural defense against them? Our bodies are divinely and beautifully made and we have a defense against addictions. But the Defense has been damaged by sugar and processed foods. Eating too much sugar through processed foods, sugar and carbohydrates will cause your body to release too much insulin. Your body will lose its sensitivity to insulin and your cells will not know to absorb the excess sugar in the blood. You will have excess sugar floating around blood vessels and as a result, could develop chronic diseases.
